Summer 2010:

Not only does Miranda milk well and enjoy her time in the milking parlor, she continues to look great.  Miranda earned a score of Excellent on her Linear Appraisal this year - not bad for a 2 year old!  She still struts and poses for all to see, and now she has definitely earned the right to do so.  Great work, Miranda!

Summer 2009:

Miranda does like to strut and she looks great doing it.  She is a gorgeous girl and a wonderful milker.  She kidded with twin bucklings this year and she really wanted to raise them but they headed to another ranch soon after birth.  So Miranda adopted another kid (Dominiska) and even let Dom nurse from her and sleep with her.  They were great fun to watch together and even when we separated them to wean Dom, Miranda would still go over there and talk to "her" daughter.  We'll just have to wait and see what happens when Dom is let out of the weaning pen!

Summer 2008:

Miranda was the second born of twin girls.  She immediately took a nap once she was born, but then got right to work being a Black Mesa Ranch kid.  When she was about a month old we heard a blood curdling scream coming from the barn in the middle of the night.  It was Miranda and she had gotten her leg stuck in the hay feeder.  It looked like it had to be broken, but it wasn't and the next day she didn't even limp - lucky girl.  Another time I went into the barn to find that she had her head stuck in a different feeder!  We hope that she has gotten that out of her system now and it might even be true.  She is now practicing walking with a regal air about her, and giving disdainful looks to the other, less dignified, barnyard critters.
