Summer 2017:

Last year we tried a new technique of disbudding using clove oil injected under the horn bud instead of using a disbudding iron.  Charlotte was one of our kids that we tried it on.  We were not thrilled with this method.  Even though we repeated the injections when we noticed horn growth, Charlotte still ended up with scurs.  But otherwise she is a lovely doe, milking great out of nicely placed and sized teats.  She loves to come into the milking parlor and jump up onto her stand.  It’s always fun to see her enthusiasm. 

Summer 2016:

Charlotte is the youngest kid that we are keeping this year, which means she is also the most spoiled.

When Charlotte was still getting milk but the older kids were weaned, the Caprine Feeder bucket was too big to use and a baby bottle was too small and didn't flow fast enough, so David invented something that was just right. A 20 oz soda bottle with a caprine milk line slid through a cutout in the lid and a Caprine nipple attached. I laughed every time Charlotte got fed. She and David had a great time with the set-up.
