Summer 2014:

Sadly it seems that Spring was greatly damaged by the Nightshade that she was eating several years ago.  She developed problems that, as the veterinarian told us, would be her demise.  We worked to keep Spring comfortable, but her health continued to deteriorate.  We euthanized her and buried her here on the ranch. She was a lovely doe and it’s sad to see her go at such a young age.

Summer 2013:

Some surprises are good - others not.  Last fall Spring surprised us by almost dying - several times.  It turned out that she had become addicted to eating the Silverleaf Nightshade that grows around here and it was a bumper crop.  We had to work hard to save her.  She pulled through but her milk production plummeted.  We are anxious to see if it has affected her permanently.  We are glad that she survived that scary time.

 Summer 2012:

Once again Spring gave us a big surprise.  Even though I was keeping a close eye on her during kidding season, she was able to get her twins on the ground without letting me know.  I went in to check on her one evening since she wasn't with the herd, and there she was with her newborns.  Funny, sneaky, surprising girl.

 Summer 2011:

Our hopes of Spring becoming a member of our milking team were waning.  As a pregnant doe Spring was impossible to work with.  When giving the girls vaccinations or hoof trims this girl would lay down and even roll onto her back to avoid having anything done to her.  It was ugly.  We almost sold her before she freshened.  We are glad we didn't!  Once Spring Thyme had her twins she settled right down and acted like an old timer in the parlor.  Then she earned her Elite Doe Status.  Spring has lovely teats for hand milking and a soft, supple udder.  We are delighted with her and have awarded her with the BMR Best Surprise of 2011 Award.

Spring has now earned her Superior Genetics title!

 Summer 2010:

Spring is a lovely girl.  She looks so much like her mom who is a Superior Genetics, Elite Doe who scored as Excellent on Linear Appraisal.  Spring has a lot to live up to if she is going to meet our expectations!  I think she's up for the job, though.
