2016 Lactation Is Now Complete |
Spring 2017:
We are very sad to report that Celeste died shortly after her kidding this year. We suspect that she ruptured her uterus. She did an amazing job for us here at BMR and we miss her deeply. We are very thankful for the beautiful buckling that she left us with. We expect great things from this fella.
Summer 2016:
After taking last year off, 8 year old Celeste freshened with a singleton doeling and is back working in the milking parlor. While she isn't the powerhouse milker that she was in her younger days, we are still very glad to have her back. She looks great and is doing well.
Summer 2015:
After an amazing run of producing lots of kids and lots of milk, Celeste decided that she needed a vacation. She didn't freshen this year. We are sad that she doesn't get to come in for milking, but she makes sure that she is on hand for extra attention and treats. We are hoping that Celeste will freshen next spring and get back to work.
Summer 2014:
AGAIN? Seriously?? Yup, Celeste, for the fourth year in a row, kidded with 3 doelings, plus added a buckling too. In the last four years Celeste has kidded with 12 doelings and 2 bucklings. She is quite the over achiever. And, of course, we just had to keep one of the doelings. Well, actually we kept two of them - Sky and Celia. We just love Celeste and her daughters.
Summer 2013:
For the third time in a row Celeste has kidded with three doelings! And this time she added a buckling! Celeste had quadruplets. And we have kept one of them. We just can't get enough of Celeste and her lovely offspring. Congratulations to Celeste for her two International Nubian Breeders awards for milk production, and for scoring as Excellent on her last linear appraisal.
Summer 2012:
Triplet doelings, AGAIN!! Yes, Celeste gave us three beautiful daughters last year and again this year. And, again, we kept one of them. Celeste is a lovely, productive doe who continues to improve each year. Her daughter's Crazy Cora and Cirrusly Celestial are going to be ones to watch.
Summer 2011:
It's hard to believe but Celeste is starting to act like the Herd Queen! She proudly takes her herd out to browse and leads them back again. Celeste is looking great and has matured into a fine, productive doe. She kidded with triplet doelings this year and is now one of our most powerful milkers.
Summer 2010:
Two year old Celeste is starting to look like a grown-up! She is maturing nicely and doing a great job in the milking parlor. Celeste is a sweet natured girl and we love having her around.
Summer 2009:
What a striking young lady Celeste has become. She is lovely, friendly, loves her job, and is milking very well for a yearling. She is still finding lots of time to go out browsing around the ranch with her buddies and even climb a few trees.
Summer 2008:
Celeste was the second born of quintuplets. That's right - she had 3 sisters and a brother! All 5 were healthy and active from the start. It was a hard decision picking which of the 4 girls to keep, but Celeste won us over with her dairyness and personality. She has a big job ahead of her - living up to the standards that her mom, Cory, has set. But for now, she is enjoying life as a BMR kid - playing with her friends, browsing in the valley, and climbing her favorite tree.
